Fridge Calendar (“we”), your weekly family planner, is available at fridge-calendar.com and planner.fridge-calendar.com. It works with your Google Calendar. This page explains, in plain language, what information we handle and why.
The short version
- Your events, chores and meals stay in your own Google Calendars. We read them when you open the planner, and we don’t keep copies.
- We store only what’s needed to run the service: your name and email, who is in your family, and which calendars your family uses.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.
Information we collect
- Your Google account basics. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture, so we can show who is in your family.
- Permission to use your Google Calendar. Google gives us access tokens so the planner can show and update your family’s calendars, create the family’s calendars if you ask it to, and share them with the family members you add. We store these tokens encrypted, and use them only to provide the planner.
- Your family setup. Your family’s name, its members (names, email addresses and access levels), which three calendars it uses, and settings such as which meals to plan. Access codes you use are recorded against your family.
- Launch updates. If you sign up on fridge-calendar.com, we store your email address, your first name if you give it, and whether you’d like to help test. To prevent abuse, we keep a one-way scrambled form of your internet address, not the address itself.
- A sign-in cookie. One cookie keeps you signed in. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
What we don’t collect or keep
We don’t store copies of your calendar events. When you open the planner, our server fetches that week’s events from Google on your behalf and passes them to your browser. Meal suggestions are worked out from your Meals calendar at the time you use them.
Google user data
Fridge Calendar’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google data only to provide the planner’s features to you and your family. We don’t use it for advertising, sell it, or let people read it except where you ask us to (for example, for support), where it’s needed for security, or where the law requires it.
Who can see your information
- The members of your family can see the family’s calendars, members and settings, depending on the access you give them.
- Our hosting provider (DreamHost, in the United States) stores our database. When paid plans launch, payments will be handled by a payment processor; we won’t see or store card numbers.
- We don’t share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Your choices
- Family owners can remove members, and members can leave a family, at any time from the planner.
- You can remove Fridge Calendar’s access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions.
- To delete your account and family information, or to stop launch emails, email hello@fridge-calendar.com. Your Google Calendars themselves stay in your Google account.
Children
Fridge Calendar is set up and managed by parents or guardians. Children may use it with a Google account their parent or guardian manages, in line with Google’s own rules for children’s accounts.
Security
The planner and this site are only available over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Google access tokens are stored encrypted, and sign-in sessions are stored in a form that can’t be used if copied.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and let users know about significant changes.
